Here are a few questions you need to answer before you make your purchase of your home coffee maker.
How many choices do you need in different cup sizes? The Keurig Elite B40 has 2 cup sizes to choose from - 7. 25 oz and 9. 25 oz, the Keurig B60 offers you a choice of 3 - 5. 25 oz, 7. 25 oz and 9. 25 oz where as the big brother of these two, the Keurig platinum B70 offers 4 - 5. 25 oz, 7. 25 oz, 9. 25 oz and 11. 25 oz. So if you like a large cup of coffee, a coffee maker which can fill in your cup can be a feature you may like in your machine. Again, if you like your coffee strong, its the smaller size cups that can give you a strong cup of coffee. So the coffee machines with the larger cup size are not what will make a difference for you. How many cups of coffee do you need? Do you need a larger capacity? The Keurig B40 and the B60 models come with a 48 oz removable reservoir whereas if you need larger capacity water reservoir, go for the Keurig B70 with a 60 oz capacity. So depending on the cup size you choose, the 60 oz will let you have more time and more cups between filling the water reservoir. The B70 can be quite good if you love to entertain as well, again removes the hard work of filling the water reservoir after every few cups. How important is the programmable function for you? The B60 and B70 come with a nice looking programmable Lcd screen which can be good feature to have in a machine, as it informs you of quite a few things like when the machine is ready for a brew or when the water reservoir needs filling up. Also, if you like a large cup of coffee, the B60 and B70 even lets you programme and set your default cup size.

These are a few points you might like to consider before making your final purchase.

First, it is not recomMended to actually reuse a normal K cup. The normal K cups are able to produce multiple cups of coffee but the taste will be much more weak with each use and will end up tasting more and more like the plastic container they are packaged in instead of coffee.

There are a few independent manufacturers of K cup coffee lids. These are plastic lids that fit snugly over a used K cup. Basically, you would use a normal K cup coffee in your machine and afterwards you can remove the foil sealed top and wash out all of thespent coffee grinds. The Filter inside the K cup is left intact. Then you may fill the K cup with your own coffee grinds and place the special plastic cap over the K cup to use it once again.

Keurig designed their own method for using your own coffee grinds in a Keurig brewing machine. The result of their efforts is the Keurig Reusable Filter. This is basically a K cup constructed out of a hard plastic framing and utilizes a metal mesh to hold two teaspoons of your favorite coffee grinds. The Reusable Filter can simply be washed with water after each use.

Visually, both machines take up a similar amount of space, but the Tassimo models have a more modern, sculpted look to them.

Keurig Brewers:

Keurig brewing machines are generally the least expensive of the two brands and they utilize "K cups" that are single serving plastic containers filled with an exact amount of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The plastic cups are sealed with foil to maintain freshness for long periods of time. The Keurig will brew K cups in lessthan a minute, but the miniature model takes a bit longer to brew a cup at around two minutes.

The coffee it produces is excellent, and the strength off the brew varies greatly on the intensity of the particular roast. The Keurig machines are not limited to using only K cup coffee manufacturers, reusable Filter accessory allows you to use any grind of coffee in the units.

Tassimo Brewers:

The Tassimo machines usually cost more money but they offer something the competing brand does not: the ability to make great cappucinos and lattes. Tassimo offers a wide variety of coffee and their T disc technology is similar to the sealed Keurig K cups but there is a twist. Tassimo T discs have instruction codes onthe sealed labels that is actually read by the Computerized machine before brewing.

These instructions on the tops of the T discs enable the machine to decipher and control more intricate beverage techniques such as brewing an espresso at the right temperature and then adding frothed milk to make a cappuccino. This feature and the extra information it involves can come as an expense towards increasing the overall brewing time.

Tassimo brewers also make excellent coffee. Their ability to make cappuccinos and lattes is certainly a plus if you are interested in these additional beverages. While K cups do offer some interesting alternatives to regular coffee such as chai, all of the contents are limited to being sealed within one single Kcup.

There is great debate between which of these single serve coffee brewing manufacturers is the superior one. The very best choice for you boils down to likely whether or not you feel the need to include cappuccino, latte or espresso in addition to regular coffee brewing. Keurig brewers are dedicated to brewing coffee only and many believe thisto be a benefit in overall simplicity and reduced brewing time.
